Mountain Dulcimer Walnut with sassafras underlaying the fretboard. This project was about 18 months in the making. I received a kit from Cripple Creek Dulcimers one Christmas and got the head carved, the fretboard finished, the sides all set, but then cracked both the front and back while trying to glue them in place. Recently, I got some walnut planed to 1/8", cut it to size, and tried again. Below are the spool clamps I made for the job. |
Shaker Boxes Cherry with copper tacks. I made these five boxes during a day-long workshop with John Wilson in Geneseo, NY. The sawdust was thick in the air as we all rushed around, boiling, bending, tacking, and sanding cherry. A glorious day. |
Sewing Cabinet Pine with Walnut trim and Spalted Maple knobs. I made this little cabinet for Lee-Ellen's sewing notions and had fun learning how to make dadoes and drawers. The finish is a wipe-on poly with carnauba wax. |
Coffee Table White oak and walnut. This table includes a glass insert in the top. The top is mitered, body is mortise and tenon, drawer sides are dovetailed and drawer bottom is rail and stile with floating walnut panels. The finish is a light golden mission - analine dye, shellac, glaze, wipe-on poly, paste wax. I loved making this table. |
Spalted Norway Maple Bowl This bowl is the one I made while taking a turning lesson with Bill Grumbine in Kutztown, PA. Bill is a wonder and turning is incredible. The bowl was wet-sanded with mineral oil and finished with the Beall system.
